Below are the questions we hear most often.  If you have a question that is not answered below please contact us.

I’m new to Pilates, how do I get started?

Congratulations on starting your journey to health and wellness through Pilates! Whether you are interested in private sessions or small group classes, we highly recommend starting with a one-on- one consultation session so we can assess your individual needs and goals and introduce you to the Pilates equipment and exercises. You can contact us here to schedule your consultation session.

What should I wear to class?

For a Pilates class, you can wear whatever you feel comfortable working out in! We recommend wearing tighter fitting clothing so that your instructor can assess your alignment and ensure you are performing the exercises correctly. Socks with grips on the bottom are helpful, although any socks or bare feet are fine as well. You do not need sneakers for Pilates classes.

How many people are in a group class?

There are never more than four people in our small group classes, so you will always receive personalized attention and modifications as needed.

I’ve never done Pilates, can I join the group classes?

If you are new to Pilates but have some previous fitness experience and no injuries or limitations, you should be able to jump in to a group class with no problem. We do recommend trying out a private consultation session first so you can learn how to use the equipment and become familiar with the structure of the class. If you have any injuries or limitations, it is very helpful to start with a private session or two to help you and your instructors know if you will need to modify exercises and what will help you get the most from group classes.

Do you offer beginner classes?

Our small group classes are all-levels and our qualified instructors can help beginners modify any exercises as needed. If you would like to get a beginner introduction to Pilates Reformer workouts before signing up for a class, contact us to schedule a one-on- one consultation session.

Do you accept health insurance debit cards?

Yes! We accept both Independent Health Flexfit Cards and Blue Cross Blue Shield Wellness Cards.

Do you accept worker’s compensation?

No, at this time we do not accept worker’s compensation.

Where should I park?

Elmwood Location: There is metered parking outside of the studio on both sides of Elmwood. You can also find non-metered parking on the side streets between Elmwood and Richmond or on West Utica between Elmwood and Delaware.

Long + Lean at Hive: Park anywhere in the lot outside of Hive!

Can I do Pilates?

Of course! One of the best things about Pilates is that it truly is appropriate for everyone. Men, women, young, old, healthy, or rehabbing an injury: Pilates has benefits for every body. And yes you can do Pilates even if you aren’t flexible! Pilates will help you increase your flexibility, no matter what your starting point is.
